The Hoover Police Explorer Post #33 is a division of the Boy Scouts of America and sponsored by the Hoover Police Department. The purpose of this program is to give young adults aged 14 - 20 who have an interest in Law Enforcement a first hand look at the day to day duties of a Police Officer. |
Post # 33 meets at the Old Berry Middle School building (2826 Columbiana Rd. Room 120), every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Meetings cover a variety of topics including: Crime Scene Investigation, Traffic Stops, Bomb Threat Response, First Aid, Domestic Violence and much more. After completing this training the Explorer may participate in the Police Explorer Ride Along program. |

Explorers not only learn about Law Enforcement, but are also taught discipline, teamwork and leadership skills that will be an asset to them throughout their lives regardless of their chosen profession. |
Explorers have the opportunity to test their skills against other posts from across the nation at the National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference that is held every other summer. This summer's conference was held in Flagstaff, Arizona. The Summer of 2008 conference is scheduled to be in Atlanta, Georgia. |
In addition to the National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference, Explorers have the opportunity to attend the Alabama Law Enforcement Explorer Academy every summer. This academy sharpens the Explorer's skills and challenges them to set goals and work hard toward achieving those goals. |
