What is the Explorer Program?

The Hoover Police Explorer Post #33 is a division of the Boy Scouts of America and sponsored by the Hoover Police Department. This program allows young men and women ages 14 to 21 who have an interest in law enforcement to get an inside view of the day-to-day duties of a municipal police officer. Explorers learn teamwork and discipline while building skills that will be of great value if the Explorer follows a career in law enforcement.

Meetings

Post # 33 meets at the Old Berry Middle School building (2826 Columbiana Rd. Room 120), every Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Meetings cover a variety of topics including training for the ride-along program, criminal investigation, and other aspects of law enforcement.

Competitions

The Hoover Police Explorers have successfully competed against Explorers from all over the United States at the National Law Enforcement Explorer Conference held every other year; a real winning team!
